What is a Credit Score Check?

A credit score check reviews an applicant's past borrowing and repayment behaviour to predict how reliably they will pay rent. It is one of the strongest signals of a tenant who pays on time.

On HeavenLease we run a soft credit check — it does not hurt the tenant's score the way a hard loan inquiry would, and it is only performed with the tenant's explicit consent.

What the Check Reveals

The credit report summarises repayment history across loans, credit cards and other credit facilities. It shows missed payments, defaults, the level of existing debt, and the number of active credit accounts.

How We Use It

We never share your tenant's raw credit file with you. Instead you receive a simple, fair rating — Strong, Moderate or Needs Review — along with a note on anything unusual, such as a recent default.

The rating is designed to help you make a fast decision while protecting the applicant's financial privacy.

Consent and Privacy

Credit checks are only ever run with the applicant's written consent, and the data is used solely to assess rental suitability. It is never sold or shared with third parties for marketing.

An applicant can always choose to rent from an owner who does not require a credit check, but most owners on HeavenLease value the extra assurance.
